For the Halloween month, I give you all...

ZOMBIE LOCOMOTIVES!

Okay, okay, I know the diesel pusher is obvious. But still, it's kind of creepy to watch them move in such a hollow, clanking way, devoid of the steam that once gave them life...

My weekend with the 4449! Jul. 21st, 2009 @ 03:33 pm

I was fortunate enough to ride the 4449 up to Durand, Michigan from Chicago on Sunday. Thought I'd share my Flickr set and YouTube video of the trip. It was amazing!

I've got more coming. I'll be chasing the 4449 from Owosso to Alma on Friday and the 765 on Sunday. This is all, of course, associated with Trainfest 2009. Should be a great time!

The Flickr set is here.

And my YouTube video may be found here.

Straight out of a family album, actually. I have no information about it whatsoever, other than it looks a bit like a mogul, and might have been taken anywhere between the late 1800s and the early 1900s, and either in central Ontario, Canada, or somewhere in Michigan. I don't even know if the person leaning out of a cab is a relative. It stands to reason, since we were very much a railroading family. But I digress! Picture!

If anyone knows anything about this locomotive and where it might have been taken...I'd be grateful for the information. There has to be SOME reason it was in the family album along with a bunch of photos of my grandmother's mother and family.
